چکیده

Mrigal or Cirrhinus mrigala (Hamilton 1822) is one of the important aquaculture species in India. During 2017, mrigal contributed 5.7% to production The present study was undertaken describe hatchery-level pre- and post-spawning condition, i.e. weight changes length-weight relationships (LWRs) weight-weight (WWRs) associated with two phases for males females used as broodstock from a commercial IMC hatchery. For 18 pairs individuals sampled, TL (total length) ranged 42–55 cm 39–54 cm, BW (body weight) 0.83–1.46 kg 0.52–1.35 respectively females. GSI recorded at 10.5% 20.4% post-pawning weights differed significantly both sexes based on paired t-test. Trends LWR slopes have been discussed article.

Effects of Deltamethrin on Haematological Indices of Indian Major Carp, Cirrhinus Mrigala (hamilton)

Deltamethrin is a pyrethroid ester insecticide widely used in agricultural and non agricultural purposes in India, creates a serious threat to the environment as well as target and non target organisms. The present investigation was undertaken to study the effect of lethal (8mg/L) and sublethal (0.8mg/L) deltamethrin level on selected haematological indices of Cirrhinus mrigala. The target fish...

Total Aromatic Amino Acid Requirement of the Indian Major Carp, Cirrhinus Mrigala (hamilton-buchanan)

Quantification of the essential amino acid requirements of a species is required for formulating optimal diets for cultivated fish. In this study, crystalline L-phenylalanine was used to determine the quantitative phenylalanine requirement of juvenile Cirrhinus mrigala. Test diets (40% crude protein) contained vitamin-free casein and gelatin supplemented with crystalline L-amino acids to provid...

Dietary Threonine Requirement of Indian Major Carp, Cirrhinus Mrigala (hamilton), Juveniles

A growth study was conducted to determine the dietary threonine requirement of juveniles of the Indian major carp (Cirrhinus mrigala) known as “mrigal”. Diets containing casein and gelatin as sources of intact proteins were supplemented with crystalline amino acids to obtain a crude protein content of 40%. Six diets with different levels of threonine (1.0, 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9 and 2.1%) were fed ...

Habitat related variations in omega series of unsaturated fatty acids in Indian major Carp Cirrhinus mrigala

Atomic absorption spectrophotometery showed significant levels of contamination by Cd, Hg, Cu, Mn, Zn, Pb, Cr and Sn in fish habitats. Fatty acids from meat were detected by gas chromatography. C12:0, C20:0, C16:1(n-7), C16:1(n-9), C18:1(n-9), C20:1(n-9), C18:2(n-6), C18:4(n-3), C22:4(n-6), C20:5(n-3) and C22:4(n-6) fatty acids were found missing in fish obtained from area of higher pollution w...

Responses of isolated scale melanophores of a fresh water carp, Cirrhinus mrigala (Ham.) to zidovudine.

Zidovudine (AZT) induced concentration related aggregation in C. mrigala melanophores. Denervated melanophores failed to respond to AZT. Specific and nonspecific alpha adrenoceptor antagonists completely blocked the responses of fish melanophores to AZT. Histamine and prostaglandin antagonists also inhibited aggregation of the melanophores induced by AZT. The results suggest that AZT may releas...
